Chairman of the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee, INEC, Prof Joash Amupitan has revealed that voting is not going to happen at two Polling Models, PUs, within the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.
He stated this is because of lack of registered voters within the items.
Prof Joash Amupitan made this identified on Tuesday on the assembly of the Inter-Company Consultative Committee on Election Safety, ICCES, on Anambra Governorship Election.
He stated the Fee will deploy a complete of 24,000 personnel for the polls and that election will maintain in 5,718 of the 5720 PUs.
“We plan to deploy 24,000 personnel,” he stated on the assembly on Tuesday.
“The election will likely be held in 5,718 of the 5,720 Polling Models within the state; voting is not going to happen within the remaining two Polling Models as a result of absence of registered voters.”
Talking on behalf of the ICCES, the Nationwide Safety Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, who was represented by Hassan Abdullahi, stated that sturdy safety measures are being put in place to make sure a hitch-free election.
“These embrace enhanced surveillance, the deployment of enough safety personnel, and improved intelligence gathering to forestall any try by disruptive parts or determined politicians to undermine the electoral course of,” he stated.
