The Zamfara State Police Command has revealed that its operatives repelled an assault by bandits and rescued 25 kidnapped victims on Friday night time.
In line with an announcement issued by the command’s spokesman, DSP Yazid Abubakar, the rescued victims included 10 girls and 15 of their youngsters.
Abubakar stated that the victims had been kidnapped in Kuraje village of Damba space unit in Gusau Native Authorities Space of the state.
In line with him, instantly the police obtained the data on the kidnapping, a joint crew swiftly mobilised to the scene on a rescue mission.
He defined that the police and the State’s Group Safety Guards pursued the fleeing bandits and engaged them in a coordinated and fire-for-fire operation, saying that the kidnapped victims had been rescued unharmed and had been reunited with their households.
“On twenty first November 2025 at about 21:45 hours, a gaggle of armed bandits in massive numbers, wielding harmful weapons and firing sporadically, attacked Kuraje village within the Damba space of Gusau LGA.
“In the course of the assault, the assailants kidnapped 10 girls together with 15 of their youngsters, all residents of the neighborhood.
“Upon receiving the misery name, joint police patrol groups from Damba Division and the Division of Operations, Gusau, working in collaboration with the Group Safety Guards (CPG), swiftly mobilised to the scene.
“The crew confirmed the incident, pursued the fleeing bandits, and engaged them in a coordinated and strategic operation.
“Because of the professionalism, gallantry, and swift response of the operatives, all twenty-five (25) kidnapped victims had been efficiently rescued unharmed.
“They had been instantly relocated to Sabongari Damba for security and correct profiling. The rescued girls and youngsters have since been reunited with their households.
“The State’s Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba recommended the bravery and dedication of the officers concerned within the operation.”
He reassured the general public of the command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property throughout the state.
In different information, the police in Kebbi State have cautioned residents towards embarking on any type of protest over the current abduction of scholars of Authorities Women Complete Secondary College, Maga.
In an announcement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar Kotarkoshi, the command stated it had obtained intelligence indicating that some teams and non-governmental organisations had been planning to stage demonstrations in response to the incident.
Kotarkoshi famous that the present safety scenario within the state stays fragile and unsuitable for protests or public gatherings, warning that such actions might set off violence and disrupt ongoing rescue operations.
“Whereas the police acknowledge the general public concern over the kidnapping, the command views any deliberate protest as misguided and counterproductive,” he stated.
