Muhammad Lawal Kurya, the Peoples Democratic Celebration, PDP, candidate for Kaura Namoda South within the final Zamfara State Home of Meeting election, has defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Kurya introduced his defection on Saturday throughout a political gathering organised by Yazeed Shehu Danfulani Initiatives on the Taula Enviornment in Gusau.
The transfer comes months after the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee, INEC, declared APC’s Kamilu Sa’idu the winner of the August supplementary election for the Kaura Namoda South constituency.
Declaring his exit from the PDP, Kurya accused Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration of failing to sort out insecurity within the state, which he mentioned has worsened beneath the present authorities.
He said that his resolution to hitch the APC was pushed by the necessity to help efforts by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to revive peace and stability in Zamfara.
Kurya urged his supporters to rally behind the APC, expressing confidence that the occasion stays higher positioned to deal with the state’s safety and developmental challenges.
