Seventeen members of the Rivers State Home of Meeting who defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, have cited the disaster throughout the Peoples Democratic Get together, PDP, as the rationale for his or her resolution.

In the meantime, the ten remaining PDP lawmakers have appointed Sylvanus Nwankwo of Omuma Constituency as Minority Chief.
Talking on the defection, Speaker Amaewhule mentioned: “Distinguished colleagues, let me fortunately announce to honourable members that your Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, has determined—and has certainly written to my Ward Chairman, Mr Osondo Orlu—of my resolution to go away the Peoples Democratic Get together.
