Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, says he determined to depart the Peoples Democratic Get together (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a result of the PDP didn’t recognise the voice of his folks.

Talking to journalists shortly after asserting his defection throughout a state-wide broadcast, the governor dismissed strategies that his motion amounted to a betrayal of the PDP, underneath which he was elected.

“This isn’t a betrayal; additionally it is not abandonment.

“It’s extra about understanding that I used to be entrusted with the folks’s mandate by the folks, and additionally it is a accountability on me to hold that very same mandate on a platform that can greatest serve the folks,” he stated.

The governor defined that his choice adopted consultations and was rooted within the perception that the PDP platform may not “serve the folks optimally.”

“We have now individuals who, underneath a specific platform, gave me their mandate to guide them.

“But it surely grew to become clear to us that the platform on which that mandate was given could not serve us optimally, after which, in session with them, we determined that we’re now going emigrate to a stronger platform that can greatest serve them. So, I don’t see that as a betrayal,” he added.

When requested if he owed an apology to those that believed he may signify them as a member of the PDP, the governor maintained that his loyalty lies with the folks, not the political construction.
