Nigerian Military troops have recovered arms and ammunition following a raid on a suspected cattle rustlers’ hideout in Plateau State.
The operation, carried out on Thursday, led to the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of weapons.
Main Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Info Officer for the three Division/Joint Process Power Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP), stated the raid occurred at Kogul Village in Mangu Native Authorities Space.
“Through the intelligence-based operation carried out on 11 September 2025, troops arrested 2 infamous cattle rustlers and recovered the next gadgets from the suspects: an AK-47 rifle with its journal, a regionally fabricated revolver rifle, ten rounds of seven.62mm (particular) ammunition, a cell phone, and a few money,” Zhakom stated in an announcement.
He added that the suspects and the recovered gadgets are in navy custody for investigation. “In the meantime, troops are conducting follow-up operations to intercept and arrest different members of the legal syndicate,” he stated.
In line with Zhakom, the operation was a part of efforts to cut back cattle rustling, which has been a recurring set off of violence in Plateau communities. “This arrest is pivotal to the continuing efforts to sort out the triggers of disaster, which troops of three Division/JTF OPEP are actively concerned and have sworn to do within the Joint Operations Space,” he stated.
