There was heavy gridlock on the Third Mainland Bridge, yesterday morning, as protesting residents of Oworonshoki, Kosofe Native Authorities Space of Lagos, blocked the inward lane of the bridge over the demolition of homes within the space by the state authorities.

The demonstration, in keeping with our correspondent who was caught within the visitors, started at daybreak and left hundreds of commuters stranded, forcing motorists to divert to various routes into the mainland.

Residents, seen in giant numbers, accused the state authorities of demolishing their homes with out sufficient discover or compensation, alleging that many households had been rendered homeless.

The demolition train, which commenced on Saturday, was carried out by a mixed enforcement staff of the state authorities, focusing on what officers described as unlawful buildings alongside the Lekki and Iyana Oworonshoki coastal strains.

In the course of the protest, demonstrators confronted safety operatives, who arrived on the scene, insisting they’d not vacate the bridge till demolition tools had been withdrawn from Oworonshoki.
