The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested 5 males for allegedly conspiring to produce bikes to bandits working within the state.
Police spokesperson DSP Nafiu Abubakar, in an announcement on Monday, stated the suspects have been arrested for felony conspiracy, abetment, and illegal possession of three Honda bikes, valued at about N5.4 million, allegedly meant to help terrorist actions.
The suspects have been recognized as Saifullahi Suleiman, 37; Halidu Adamu, 26; Ibrahim Abubakar, 37; and Sani Kabiru, 22 — all residents of Kamba city, Dandi Native Authorities Space. They have been apprehended on September 18 by a joint patrol crew of law enforcement officials and vigilantes.
Abubakar described the arrest as a “breakthrough” in efforts to curb violent crime, noting that the operation was led by the Divisional Police Officer of Kamba Division, Bello Lawal.
Investigations revealed that the bikes have been smuggled from the Benin Republic and have been to be delivered to the Lakurawa terrorist group via an unidentified confederate based mostly in Kangiwa, Arewa Native Authorities Space.
Abubakar additionally disclosed that one other suspect, Mubarak Ladan, 28, was arrested after allegedly trying to bribe the DPO with N600,000 to safe the discharge of the detained males.
