PORT HARCOURT: The Financial Group of West African States, ECOWAS,Parliament, has cautioned legislative arms of presidency towards hasty adoption of Synthetic Intelligence (AI) in parliamentary companies.

The parliamentarians gave this warning in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, on the ongoing 2nd 2025 ECOWAS Parliamentary Seminar/Extraordinary Session, with theme: “Harnessing Synthetic Intelligence for Parliamentary Effectivity,  Moral Governance and Improvement within the ECOWAS Area. “

The seminar was on Cyber Safety, AI Improvement within the Safety Sector, AI for Parliamentary Effectivity and Oversight, AI in Agriculture and Well being Improvement. 

The parliamentarians, whereas responding to the lectures, stated there must be in depth advocacy on the AI and the necessity for lawmakers in Africa, notably ECOWAS nations to embrace the brand new improvement. 

Man Marius Sagna (Francophone) and Laadi Ayamba (Anglophone), of their separatereactions, stated some legislators lack indepth information of know-how, noting that they want extra sensitization on the brand new development.

Sagna notably argued that using AI in law-making and different sectors would have extra demerits than good on the society, particularly within the office.
