Aliko Dangote, founder and president/chief govt of the Dangote Group has revealed that his firm’s drivers earn considerably greater than graduates.

Mr Dangote, in a video shared on the TVC X deal with on Tuesday, made this identified in response to the allegations made by the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).

NUPENG had lately accused Mr Dangote and Sayyu Aliu Dantata of participating in alleged anti-union practices. The union claims the businessmen try to monopolise Nigeria’s downstream oil and gasoline distribution whereas suppressing staff’ rights.

On the time, NUPENG stated its members would begin a nationwide strike from Monday, 8 September in protest towards what it described as anti-union labour practices, linked to the deployment of newly imported Compressed Pure Fuel (CNG) vehicles by the Dangote Refinery, for direct distribution of petroleum merchandise.

NUPENG, whose membership consists of petrol tanker drivers, in an announcement collectively signed by its President, Williams Akhoreha, and Basic Secretary, Afolabi Olawale, alleged that the drivers recruited for the CNG vehicles are being compelled to signal undertakings to not belong to any present union within the oil and gasoline business.
