• Catholic priest kidnapped in Kogi
A 20-year-old orphan, Muhamad Abdulmumini, has been hospitalised after being brutally overwhelmed by his uncle, Kamar Amoto, who accused him of stealing an Android telephone.
The Guardian learnt that after subjecting the orphan to extreme flogging to drive a confession, the allegedly lacking telephone was later found in Amoto’s room. He reportedly admitted he had forgotten he had left it there earlier.
An eyewitness recounted that Amoto, a bricklayer, allegedly beat the boy with a shovel till he fell unconscious. Involved neighbour, Ahmed Rufai, rushed the sufferer, who was barely respiration, to Dosam Clinic for pressing therapy.
Medical studies signed by Dr Nyamida Samuel confirmed that the orphan sustained extreme inner bleeding and kidney injury. He was subsequently referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, the place his survival stays unsure. Former Chairman of Adavi Joint Group, Hussein Aduvusu, confirmed the arrest of Amoto, who’s now in police custody at Okehi Division.
