The Speaker of the Ondo State Home of Meeting, Olamide Oladiji, has acknowledged that the try by some aggrieved lawmakers to question him stems from their grievances with Governor Fortunate Aiyedatiwa.
The embattled Speaker, who described the impeachment plot as a misplaced precedence, mentioned the Meeting can’t be pissed off or distracted from amending and passing the reordered 2025 Appropriation Act.
Oladiji’s place adopted the backing he obtained from 14 lawmakers within the state, who handed a vote of confidence in his management of the Meeting.
Twelve of the 26 lawmakers had, a number of days in the past, handed a vote of no confidence within the Speaker, accusing him of gross misconduct and misappropriation of Meeting funds.
A disaster broke out within the Meeting after the lawmakers staged a walkout in protest towards Governor Fortunate Aiyedatiwa’s N531 billion supplementary funds, accusing Oladiji of making an attempt to hasten the passage of the invoice regardless of the poor efficiency of the 2025 funds and fewer than two months remaining within the fiscal 12 months.
The Speaker, who was flanked by the Deputy Speaker, Olalade Gbegudu; the Chairman, Home Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi; and Olawumi Fayemi-Obayelu (Ilaje 2), emphasised that failing to take care of the modification — the place taken by the aggrieved legislators — would cripple the federal government of Governor Fortunate Aiyedatiwa; therefore, the Meeting should act responsibly.
Stressing that the Meeting below his watch will proceed to carry out its constitutional duties with out unnecessary politicking forward of the 2027 normal elections, Oladiji added that he has been piloting the affairs of the Meeting in accordance with its guidelines and standing orders.
“We’ve the opinion that if in any respect we’ve a request, or if in any respect we’ve any demand from His Excellency or the manager, we must always not tie it with our legislative assignments, which is the reordering or what we name the supplementary budgets,” he mentioned.
