A cross part of stakeholders of Ishielu Native Authorities Space of Ebonyi State have advocated that the 2026 chairmanship seat must be zoned to the Ezzagu neighborhood for fairness, justice and equity.
The agitation was sequel to the deliberate solidarity rally on Monday, October 26, 2025 by the management of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the reelection of the incumbent chairman, Mrs Ifeoma Agwu.
An announcement issued by the APC chairman of the council, Ikechukwu Abba, stated the ‘one-million-man march’ is for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, Governor Francis Nwifuru and the Chairman of the council, Mrs Peace Ifeoma Agwu.
Nevertheless, in a swift response, a bunch, the Involved Stakeholders of Ishielu Native Authorities Space, famous that they had been shocked and disenchanted on the inclusion of the reelection of the incumbent council boss within the agenda of the deliberate rally.
A frontrunner of the group, Felx Ukpabi, advocated that it was the flip of Ezzagu zone to provide the following council chairman in August 2026.
He emphasised that whereas they help any rally focused for the reelection of President Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru, Ezzagu zone ought to produce the following chairman.

“We urge all stakeholders to reject this imposition and demand that the APC management respects the zoning association. It’s time for Ezzagu Zone to take the reins, and we should always help a candidate from that zone.
“We help the federal government and reelection of our God given President Bola Tinubu and our Expensive Governor prince builder Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru and can ship one hundred pc votes for APC in 2027 basic elections,” Ukpabi stated.
In the meantime, as contenders intensify consultations for the council place, a veteran journalist and former Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ebonyi State Council, Comrade Benjamin Nworie, has taken the lead within the race for the Ishielu LGA chairmanship election.
Nworie, a former member of the Governing Board of the Ebonyi Broadcasting Cooperation, EBBC, stated his aspiration would deal with the marginalization of Ezzagu Zone and equally consolidate on the achievements of the Governor Nwifuru’s authorities within the council space.
He stated, “My aspiration will deal with the marginalization and injustice to Ezzagu Zone for over twenty years. If not for the intervention of Governor Francis Nwifuru within the building of Ezillo-Ezzagu Highway, in any other case, there’s no entry path to the populated Ezzagu neighborhood.
“It’s worrisome that regardless of the voting energy of Ishielu Native Authorities, Ezzagu lacks all primary social facilities like street, electrical energy, water and hospital.”
