The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Kebbi State has expressed concern over the rising circumstances of political thuggery and insecurity throughout the state, calling for pressing measures to deal with the state of affairs.
The celebration made the decision throughout a press briefing after its stakeholders’ assembly held on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi.
Talking on behalf of the celebration, Chiroman Kabi, Ibrahim Mohammed-Mera, mentioned the assembly targeted on the worsening safety challenges and the rise of political violence within the state.
He cited a current incident in Argungu, the place thugs allegedly attacked individuals throughout a marriage Fatiha in a mosque, describing it as “unacceptable” and a “harmful sign forward of future political actions.”
“It’s unbecoming for any political chief to help or finance such acts. ADC condemns these incidents in totality and requires peace to prevail in Kebbi,” he mentioned.
Mohammed-Mera lamented that insecurity was spreading throughout the state, recalling the current killing of a Nigerian soldier in Sakaba Native Authorities Space.
He mentioned banditry, kidnapping, and different felony actions have continued unabated, leaving residents traumatised, farmlands abandoned, and financial actions crippled.
The ADC chieftain urged the state and federal governments, in addition to safety businesses, to undertake coordinated, intelligence-driven methods to revive peace and order.
He additionally cautioned towards using intimidation and aggression by political actors, warning that such actions undermine democratic values.
