The Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC), has launched the ultimate record of 17 candidates for the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Space Council elections scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 12, 2026.
Mr Sam Olumekun, the INEC Nationwide Commissioner and Chairman, Data and Voter Training Committee (IVEC), made the disclosure in an announcement issued on Tuesday in Abuja.
He mentioned that the publication adopted the conclusion of the statutory interval for withdrawal and substitution of candidates as stipulated by legislation.
INEC had on Aug.18 revealed the private particulars of candidates that emerged from primaries performed by political events.
Olumekun recalled {that a} whole of 17 political events submitted particulars of their candidates’ (Type EC9) by the deadline of 6 p.m on Monday, Aug. 11.
“With the publication of this closing record, no additional withdrawal or alternative of candidates might be allowed, besides within the unlucky occasion of the demise of a candidate or operating mate earlier than election day, as offered by Part 34(1) of the Electoral Act,” Olumekun mentioned.
