The Peoples Democratic Social gathering, PDP, has warned the Senate towards a hasty or politically motivated affirmation of the newly appointed chairman of the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee, INEC, Prof Joash Amupitan, SAN, that would deepen public cynicism towards the electoral course of.
The Nationwide Publicity Secretary of the social gathering, Debo Ologunagba, issued this warning on Friday in Abuja shortly after the inaugural assembly of the Venue Sub-Committee for the PDP 2025 Elective Nationwide Conference, chaired by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Lawal.
Ologunagba cautioned that Nigerians and the worldwide group have been watching how the affirmation shall be dealt with.
In line with him, the Senate should not ‘rubber-stamp’ the nomination, stressing that the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral course of, already underneath public suspicion after the 2023 basic elections, now hangs on how transparently the higher chamber manages the affirmation listening to.

The PDP’s spokesperson identified that the credibility of Nigeria’s democracy now rests closely on the Senate’s integrity.
