ABUJA – Former President Dr Goodluck Jonathan has mentioned he bears no grudges towards anybody over previous actions towards him, stressing that forgiveness and reconciliation are important for political stability, nationwide cohesion and growth.
He made the remarks on Wednesday night in Abuja throughout a requiem mass in honour of Chief Audu Ogbeh.
Jonathan described Ogbeh as a person of humility and forgiveness, whose perspective to life mirrored his personal.
“Chief Ogbeh was a person who didn’t search revenge. He believed the previous needs to be left behind and that we should maintain transferring ahead.
“In that sense, he was similar to me. Should you harm me at the moment, I’ll forgive you. I don’t carry grudges towards anyone. I imagine the previous is previous, and I transfer on,” Jonathan mentioned.
The previous President recalled that his friendship with the late politician started throughout his time as deputy governor, when Ogbeh served as Nationwide Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Celebration (PDP).
“I didn’t know Chief Ogbeh till I grew to become a deputy governor when he was serving as Nationwide Chairman of the PDP. At the moment, deputy governors had been usually seen as spare tyres, however he handled me as an in depth buddy.
