Owerri — The Chief of Military Workers (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has urged residents of Imo State to not condone acts of criminality, warning that tolerating such behaviour endangers communities and undermines nationwide safety.
Oluyede made the decision throughout a stakeholders’ engagement discussion board themed “Taking the Nigerian Military to the Communities,” held on Thursday in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Represented by the Particular Visitor of Honour, Maj.-Gen. Obinna Ajunwa, the COAS emphasised the necessity for collective accountability in safeguarding Imo State and the nation at massive.
He cautioned that communities that flip a blind eye to prison actions ultimately undergo the implications.
“What you condone is what you tolerate; what you tolerate is what’s going to destroy you,” he said.
Oluyede reaffirmed the Military’s dedication to partaking and listening to communities as a part of its broader technique to reinforce nationwide safety.
In his welcome tackle, the Chief of Civil–Navy Affairs, Maj.-Gen. Gold Chibuisi, described the discussion board as one of many Military’s non-kinetic approaches to tackling insecurity throughout the nation.
He defined that the engagement was aimed toward gathering concepts and suggestions that will enhance the Military’s operations and strengthen civil–army relations.
Additionally talking, the Chairman of the Council of Conventional Rulers and Neighborhood Policing in Imo State, Eze Emmanuel Okeke, lauded the initiative, noting that it got here at an important time when the state is recovering from a wave of insecurity.
Eze Okeke pledged the continued collaboration of conventional rulers and group leaders with safety businesses within the struggle in opposition to crime and the restoration of peace within the state.
