The fourth version of Chief of Defence Workers (CDS) Unity Basketball Championship (South-West Zone) organised by the Defence Headquarters is scheduled to carry from 30 September to five October on the Nationwide Stadium and Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
This annual championship is a part of the CDS’ non-kinetic strategy to strengthen safety and foster unity, self-discipline, and teamwork amongst Nigerian youths.
By means of the facility of sports activities, the event seeks to instill values of peace, resilience, and nation-building throughout communities.
The championship will function 12 elite male basketball groups drawn from the South-west and neighbouring states, together with a army crew in addition to Veterans’ exhibition matches.

The organisers introduced that money prizes, medals, trophies, and certificates can be awarded to taking part groups, whereas particular recognition awards together with Most Beneficial Participant (MVP) and Event Greatest can even be rewarded.
Based on the CDS, Christopher Musa (OFR), “The Unity Basketball Event is greater than only a sport. It’s a platform to unite communities, encourage the youth, and reinforce the values of teamwork and self-discipline. By means of non-kinetic approaches, we purpose to advertise a stronger, extra united Nigeria.”
