The Catholic Diocese of Nsukka, Enugu State, on Saturday confirmed the killing of one in all its clergymen, Rev. Fr. Matthew Eya.
Fr. Eya was shot lifeless alongside the Eha-Alumonah–Eha-Ndiagu street in Nsukka Native Authorities Space, leaving the group in shock and grief.
Eyewitnesses stated the priest was attacked whereas driving his cream-coloured Toyota Corolla, which was later discovered riddled with bullets and soaked with blood.
A viral video from the scene confirmed parishioners gathered across the automobile, mourning the incident.
In an announcement, the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka, Fr. Cajetan Iyidobi, described the killing as devastating.
“Shocked to the marrow, it’s with crushing ache and sorrow, but a complete submission to the desire of the Almighty God and a agency hope within the resurrection of the lifeless, that I inform you of the tragic loss of life of one more brother of ours, Rev. Fr. Matthew Eya,” the assertion learn.
