Panic has gripped residents of Ore in Odigbo Native Authorities Space of Ondo State, as a 27-year-old carpenter, Toheeb Ahmed, allegedly hacked his grandmother to loss of life.
The Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) studies that the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday at Aiyegbami Avenue in Ore.
An eyewitness and neighbour of the sufferer, who most well-liked anonymity, stated that what transpired between the suspect and the grandmother, who has been residing quietly in her residence, couldn’t be ascertained.
“The motion of the suspect was suspicious, and out of curiosity, I went to Mama’s room whereas he was away and found she had been hacked to loss of life.
“When he returned, I seen he was carrying a cutlass and was accompanied by a good friend, in all probability to maneuver the corpse, that was once I raised the alarm,” the neighbour stated.
In the meantime, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who confirmed the incident to NAN, stated that the suspect has been arrested and is in police custody.
He stated that the investigation was ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and guarantee justice.
“Sure, I can verify the incident. The suspect is in our custody and investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances encompass the incident for justice to take it’s course,” Ayanlade stated.
