The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos State says borrowing below the administration of President Bola Tinubu is to fund growth by constructing of essential infrastructure.
Lagos APC spokesman, Mr Seye Oladejo, in an announcement on Thursday titled ‘Peter Obi’s Borrowing Hypocrisy: Doctor, Heal Thyself’, berated the 2023 Labour Get together presidential candidate’s criticism of Tinubu’s borrowings.
DAILY POST studies that the previous Anambra governor had referred to as on accountants to confront the Tinubu-led Federal Authorities over what he referred to as “reckless borrowings”.
Oladejo suggested Obi to play to his strengths in politics, “as subjects bordering on finance, economic system, growth, and social coverage stay his enduring handicap.”
In line with him, borrowing below the current administration is strategic, tied to initiatives and funding of productive sectors.
“First, borrowing isn’t inherently reckless. What issues is function and prudence.
“Beneath President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, borrowing is strategic, tied to essential infrastructure, vitality, transportation, and productive sectors.
“That is the globally accepted practice-even essentially the most superior economies borrow to fund development.
“Second, Peter Obi has no ethical authority to lecture anybody about prudence.
“Nigerians keep in mind that as governor, he left behind unpaid pensions, collapsing infrastructure, and poor human capital indices,” Oladejo stated.
He stated that Obi had persistently displayed extravagant tendencies,including it was a contradiction that he was going about giving sermons on prudent administration of sources.
“For somebody who flew world wide in personal jets throughout his marketing campaign whereas sermonising about slicing prices, the contradictions are obtrusive,” he stated.
In line with him, not like Obi’s motivational-speech politics, Tinubu is taking daring, mandatory steps to reset the economic system.
“Subsidy elimination, forex reforms, and focused borrowing are tough however inevitable measures to safe Nigeria’s future. That is management in motion – not empty moralising,” he added
