Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has signed into legislation a invoice creating 13 further emirate councils within the state.
Channel Tv reported that the governor signed the 2025 Bauchi State Chieftaincy (Appointment and Deposition) Regulation and the Zaar Chiefdom Regulation, 2025 on Tuesday.
Mr Mohammed mentioned the choice to create the emirates and a chiefdom was pushed by coverage goals to handle the present realities of governance because the state approaches its fiftieth anniversary.
“This transfer is designed to enhance grassroots governance and is a response to the long-standing agitations by our individuals for the creation of those establishments. The method itself is among the most consultative and clear ever undertaken in our state,” the governor mentioned.
In line with Mr Mohammed, a committee was constituted to evaluate the proposals for brand new emirates, after which the State Home of Meeting performed a public listening to, legislative deliberation and passage of the invoice.
Mr Mohammed directed the state’s attorney-general and commissioner for justice, in addition to the Secretary to the State Authorities, to gazette, publish, and distribute copies of the brand new legal guidelines to all related authorities and establishments for instant implementation.
Additionally, the governor signed into legislation the native authorities pension contributory scheme and the Appropriation Supplementary Act 2025.
