UYO — Police have dismantled a militant syndicate and uncovered an unlawful gun-manufacturing facility, arresting a number of suspects in separate operations throughout Akwa Ibom State.

The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, disclosed this on Tuesday in Uyo whereas giving a briefing on latest operational breakthroughs.

Azare mentioned the successes—recorded from the creeks of Mbo Native Authorities Space (LGA) to Uyo metropolis—have been achieved via proactive intelligence gathering, patrols, and collaboration with different safety businesses and group stakeholders.

On the crackdown on militants, the CP mentioned:

“On third November 2025, at about 1145hrs, operatives of the Command, in collaboration with Marine Hunters, intercepted and arrested one Samuel Geofrey ‘m’, 27, a local of Atakpere Neighborhood in Ekeremo LGA of Bayelsa State.

“The suspect confessed to being an lively militant concerned in sea piracy and kidnapping. He revealed that his rifle was within the custody of 1 Kingdom Bane ‘m’, the Village Head of Ine Eyoabasi Fishing Village.”

Operatives instantly stormed the village, however the Village Head fled upon sighting safety groups. A search of his residence, nevertheless, led to the restoration of a number of gadgets suspected to have been stolen from sea travellers.
