The spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has accused Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, of voter inducement forward of the November 8 governorship election.
Based on the ADC spokesperson, Soludo has resorted to cash-for-votes as a result of he has misplaced public confidence.
In a put up on X (previously Twitter) on Sunday, Abdullahi claimed that the governor’s actions violated the Electoral Act, describing them as proof of desperation.
“Forward of the November eighth election, Soludo has clearly misplaced the arrogance of the individuals of Anambra, and it reveals,” Abdullahi wrote.
“Solely a sitting governor who has run out of public goodwill would so overtly resort to money for votes, in direct violation of Sections 121 and 127 of the Electoral Act, which criminalise voter inducement of any type. This can be a new degree of desperation, wrapped in impunity, and I hope that INEC shouldn’t be pretending to not see it.”
Recall that the ADC governorship candidate, John Nwosu, lately criticised Governor Soludo over studies of donations from people, teams, and native governments towards his re-election marketing campaign.
Nwosu argued that such donations raised moral and authorized considerations.
“I’m conscious of studies that some teams and cities have made humongous donations to the candidate of APGA in purported help of his marketing campaign,” Nwosu mentioned.
“Such donations elevate actual considerations about compliance with the Electoral Act, morality, and the rule of legislation.”
He added that it was “worrisome” if financially constrained native governments had been donating public funds to the governor’s marketing campaign.
“If cash-strapped native governments are donating hundreds of thousands to the governor’s marketing campaign, that may be a charade and a blatant show of official dishonesty,” he added.
Soludo is looking for re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
