The expelled Nationwide Chairman of the Social Democratic Occasion, SDP, Shehu Gabam, has insisted that he stays the reputable chairman of the social gathering.
In a press release issued on Friday in Abuja by his Particular Assistant (Authorized), Abubakar Baba, the embattled SDP chief described his reported expulsion from the social gathering as unlawful, null, and void.
He condemned the transfer as a determined try by impostors to destabilise the social gathering, insisting that the purported motion was unconstitutional and of no consequence.
DAILY POST remembers that Gabam, together with the Nationwide Youth Chief, Dr Ogbonna Uchechukwu, and several other others, was expelled on Thursday following a gathering of the Nationwide Working Committee, NWC, in Abuja.
Reacting to the event, Gabam stated “the stated assembly is illegitimate, null and void, and of no impact in anyway.”
Citing Article 13 (iv) of the SDP Structure, which empowers solely the Nationwide Chairman to preside over conferences of the Nationwide Conference, Nationwide Government Committee, Nationwide Working Committee, and Nationwide Caucus, he stated: “I stay the nationwide chairman of the SDP. Any assembly convened or presided over with out the consent of the duly recognised chairman constitutes a gross violation of its structure and a brazen try to usurp reputable authority.”
Gabam additionally criticised the Nationwide Secretary, Olu Agunloye, for allegedly writing to the Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee, INEC, to speak the purported selections of the assembly, describing the motion as a breach of Half 2 (12) 3 of the INEC Rules and Pointers for Political Events, 2022.
