The Peoples Democratic Occasion, PDP, in Cross River State has accused some members who defected to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, of plans to destabilise the PDP within the state.
​
The State Chairman of PDP, Venatius Ikem, made this allegation whereas addressing newsmen in Calabar on Monday, stressing that they had been working secretly to destabilise the PDP within the state.

Ikem alleged that some former PDP members who had defected to the ADC had been now posing as social gathering stakeholders in an try to infiltrate and sow confusion throughout the PDP.

He described the scenario as a deliberate act of sabotage supposed to weaken the unity and organisational energy of the PDP forward of future elections.

“It’s unlucky and embarrassing to see conflicting statements coming from our nationwide headquarters.

“As an alternative of sanctioning those that brazenly declared for the ADC, some persons are rewarding them with caretaker committee appointments whereas casting doubts on the legitimacy of our peaceable and clear state congress,” he stated.

In accordance with him, the just lately concluded congress in Cross River was performed in full compliance with the PDP Structure (2017 as amended) and in step with the NWC’s pointers.

He additional acknowledged that the newly elected state government had already been inaugurated and had began performing its duties.
