The troops of Joint Job Pressure Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have foiled makes an attempt by bandits to assault some communities in Katsina-Ala Native Authorities Space of Benue.
The Performing Media Data Officer of OPWS, Lt. Ahmad Zubairu, said this in an announcement on Tuesday in Makurdi.
The Information Company of Nigeria(NAN) studies that the operation comes barely per week after suspected armed herders and native bandits ambushed and killed 11 safety personnel inside Katsina-Ala council.
Zubairu stated the troops between Sept. 26 and Sept. 28 thwarted the bandits’ plans to assault Agurugu and Igyudu villages.
He stated on Sept. 26, troops deployed at Abaji acquired credible intelligence on the motion of a bunch of bandits at Agurugu village.
He stated the troops instantly mobilised to the world and, unable to face up to the superior firepower of the gallant troopers, the bandits fled in disarray.
He defined that on Sept. 28, troops deployed to Gbise encountered bandits throughout a combating patrol towards Igyudu village.
He added that the bandits deserted their positions and fled in the course of the confrontation.
“Subsequent search of the scene led to the restoration of 1 computerized pistol, three 9mm rounds, 33 7.62mm particular ammunition, 15 5.56 x 45mm rounds, two AK-47 magazines, and 29 cell phones deserted by the fleeing criminals.
“Equally, on Sept. 28, troops deployed at Gbise launched into a combating patrol towards Igyudu village in response to studies of banditry in the neighborhood.
“On sighting the advancing troopers, the bandits once more deserted their positions and fled.
“The troops carried out a radical search of all the village, recovering one single-barrel gun, three rounds of seven.62mm NATO, two AK-47 magazines, one G3 journal, one hand grenade, one tear fuel canister, assorted medical kits, and an Itel cellphone.”
Zubairu quoted the OPWS Pressure Commander, Maj.- Gen. Moses Gara, as commending the troops for his or her bravery, swift response, and professionalism.
He added that Gara assured the individuals of Katsina-Ala and adjoining communities of their security, urging them to proceed to supply credible and well timed data to help ongoing navy operations.
