Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar says the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition will stay steadfast in defending Nigerians in opposition to what he described as “anti-democratic forces” beneath the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Atiku acknowledged this on Monday in an X submit after assembly with Senator Aminu Tambuwal, representing Sokoto South, and former Legal professional-Basic of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
“We will likely be unrelenting in defending the rights of each Nigerian being harassed by anti-democratic forces of the Tinubu-led APC administration,” Atiku wrote.
“The coalition that we’re pushing is geared toward rescuing our democracy from the stranglehold of this rising dictatorship. We will be deliberate in becoming a member of fingers in saving our democracy.”
Earlier in September, the previous Vice President accused the Tinubu administration of utilizing repressive techniques to stifle dissent.
He alleged a “calculated assault” on opposition leaders, citing the police invitation of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and what he referred to as assaults on different opposition figures as a part of a broader transfer to weaken political rivals.
Talking by means of his Particular Assistant on Media, AbdurRashid Shehu Sharada, Atiku maintained that such actions have been a part of an orchestrated try and erode democratic freedoms and discourage credible opposition earlier than the following common election.
